  86. Mr. McNaughton-I'd especially love to pick the "Beneath Golgotha" and "Via Dolorosa" at this time of year; and "The Forgotten Man" is so meaningful to me. "Parting The Veil" reminds me of the promise of eternal life for the believer. But as I work with the elderly, as I know that is what God called me to do, I have posted "Touched by the Scriptures" as my profile pic. 88. I first saw your work when "The Forgotten Man" was emailed to me by a close friend who had discovered it and marveled at it, and wanted to share. The faces of the Past Presidents, whom he and I had often discussed, pro and con, exemplified the feelings we had shared about them. At that time, I had no idea who you were or what your art and motivations encompassed. But, in sending it on to other friends, we discussed your talent, wondered about your work, your ideas, your thoughts, your driving force. And so I, on my own, researched you and your work, and I discovered you on FB, then went to your webpages. In reading "The Agony and The Ecstasy" about the life of Michelangelo, I saw in your work the same drive to make the people in your paintings real; the colors, the tones, the movement of the muscles, the facial expressions - everything comes together so perfectly to say exactly what you want to say. You take my breath away with each painting, caught in a moment of time as real as any photo.

I am not a religious person, although I am deeply familiar with LDS scriptures. Your paintings speak of not only the desperation, the anguish, the pain of what you sometimes depict, but the hope and realization that can come, if only people seek more than surface values, surface truths, surface beauty. Thank you for that.

Thank you so much for sharing your talent with us when we so deeply need something to help us through these trying and frightening times and also to remember that it is God who is still in charge.

  105. I had a tough time choosing between Parting the Veil and Ye Are Not Forgotten, but I went with Parting the Veil. The reason I chose this is that a few weeks ago, my pastor gave a message about running the good race and to run with perseverance. However, what really stuck with me was that "we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles..." (Hebrews 12:1)

This painting reminds me of these witnesses. Reminds me on how to live, no matter how difficult life can get, these witnesses had their eye on what matters most, Jesus.

  115. My name is Sandy Riffle. Your paintings are fabulous and your contest is exciting. I posted the following on your fb wall....

Jon, I admire and am inspired by all your paintings however.........

I chose the "The Forgotten Man" for my profile pic. The message for me in this painting is we always live in a time that tries man's soul and that Liberty must be guarded at all cost.

I vision that young man sitting on the park bench as my grandson Alexander Liam some twenty years in the future only because America gave up and didn't fight for her prized document.

Our fathers of generations past gave their lives for their country and freedom seem to be forgotten today, as we seem to have fallen asleep to the cost and price of our freedom.

Jon, your painting of "The Forgotten Man" inspires me as a grandmother to step up to the plate and lay down my honor, my wealth and my life for the precious liberty that is entitled to Alexander Liam and all boys and girls, and to all future generations as so admirably stated in the Constitution of the United States of America. A document to be guarded at all times at any cost.

If I shall be so blessed to win this painting, it will be hung with great honor to you Jon, as the artist who depicted the fragility of Liberty. And, it will be a prized treasure to pass on to my grandson Alexander Liam to never ever forget the high price of liberty and fight for it with all your being so his posterity will be free.

  116. The Forgotten Man says it all ... our Constitution has been trampled on by those whose job it is to uphold it. And the common man has been forgotten in the process. Thank you for displaying a social conscious in your work Jon.

  117. Thank you Jon. I am subscribed to your blog as myself, Yvonne Oulman. And I am a fan of your in Facebook. I choose "The Forgotten Man" because it hits the nail squarely on the head. As an Oath Keeper I promised to protect and defend the Constitution so this painting was highly inspirational for me.
I found this a difficult choice since all of your paintings are superb.

  118. Jon, It's incredible how you combine your love of country with your love of God. Your paintings are truly inspirational. My wife would love Via Dolorosa but The Forgotten Man is my favorite. If I win The Forgotten Man it will be displayed in my "man cave" as my wife isn't very political and she controls the walls in the rest of the house. My real name is Richard O'Brien

  119. I am amazed at your work, it comes from your heart and soul.I had posted on your facebook that my first pick was the "Golden Harvest" I could'nt set it as my profile picture. When I seen that pitcure I had chills run all over me.It gave me the greatest feeling of love and peace. I had a dream one night that I was standing next to Jesus and we was looking down at a field of wheat are oats, each stalk was perfect so full and ripe it was time to harvest. With the sun shining on the field it had the most wonderful golden color. Then I looked to the front right hand corner of the field and there was a lady peacefuly sleeping,I had to see who she was so I got closer to only see it was me. I felt Gods love and it was so strong. When I seen your picture the Golden Harvest it might sound crazy but it was like I stepped back into the dream I had and I felt that wonderful Love of God from your painting, The field (in my dream) was harvested. God gave you a way to touch people through your paintings and thats a true gift from God.

  120. Hi I'm Theresa Schuler. I chose the Garden Tomb for my fb profile. It was very difficult to choose just one, each captures something special of the heart, one building upon another. The Garden captures the profound joy of spiritual love, and the ties that bind us always. Thank you for the beautiful understanding you share.

  121. My name is Sharon Lynn Sullins and I love your work. It's very inspiriting and makes my spirit happy to see the images of the Lord. Especially the ones where He is next to a believer. I like the political ones too. You're an awesome artist for the Lord and I didn't know you had a blog so this is my first post!
Keep up the great work - can't wait to see what you have up next!
    God bless you

  124. My name is Sandy Ludwig and I chose "The Forgotten Man" because I believe it says in a thousand ways what is happening to our country through the political destruction of the current administration, and many before it. Having so many "friends" on facebook who of are liberal minds, I want to them to "see" through your painting the profound absurdity of the current administration which they elected into office. Thank you so much for your ministry and for effectively saying through your artistic work, what it would take more than a thousand words to say.

  125. My name is Leslie Chamberlin. I love your art. That's putting it simply. I truly love how your tenets so ideally flow from your brain through your fingers. Our ideals follow so closely together. I do not have an artistic bone in my body, so your art makes me feel like my ideals have been expressed in art through you. God is amazing. I want to hang the Forgotten Man next to me at work. I work in a courthouse for the county which I live. My courthouse still displays Merry Christmas and has a nativity scene during the holidays. All decorations are donated so we have made it through any controversy that may cause. I want to hang Forgotten Man near me to inspire conversations as to the individual meanings of the details of the piece. I feel the Forgotten Man's pain sometimes, so can really relate to it. Via Dolorosa is amazing. When I heard your words on the video explaining where you got the inspiration, I was in awe staring at the bricks of the street. The feelings that bubbled up thinking about how you walked that street and was inspired by the stone that touched your feet are beyond words. I would be honored and gumbled if I won this contest. I repost all posts on facebook so I can share your talent with my friends. To own one and be able to do that daily is almost beyond my dreams. Thank you for what you do! You inspire me to look beyond the details happening around me.

Since I've been following you on Facebook, I've been able to talk about your paintings with friends and then often go deeper into the Word. Thank you for sharing your God-given talents as a way of inspiring so many. I'd love to display one of your paintings in my home both for their sheer beauty and power, but mostly as a way of starting conversations with visitors and inspiring them to grow in their relationship with Our Lord and Savior.
