One Nation Under Socialism

“I pledge allegiance to the United States of America,
And not to an ideology, which can never stand,
One nation under socialism, divisive,
With no liberty or justice for anyone.”

This November, you will make a choice.  Will you choose One Nation Under Socialism?

McNaughton’s Answers to Questions Regarding This Painting:

Why the title “One Nation Under Socialism?”
Our federal government has been moving in the direction of socialism for over one hundred years.  Many presidents and politicians have compromised the Constitution as we have given away our freedoms under the guise of entitlements and government intervention.  When the people are willing to sacrifice the next generation for their current lifestyles and allow the federal government to have all the power for an illusory mess of pottage—you have chosen One Nation Under Socialism.

What do you mean by an ideology, which can never stand?
I will not support an ideology, which will lead to the destruction of America.  In the history of the world, never has there been a recorded example where Socialism has led to the betterment of the human condition or improved the liberty of the people.  I know there are varying degrees and definitions of “socialism.”  Even the European model of Democratic Socialism has proven to be a dismal failure.  Do you want to see our country become like Greece, Italy, Portugal, or even Great Britain?

What do you mean by “divisive, with no liberty or justice for anyone?”
Socialism uses the illusion of offering fairness and justice for everyone by redistributing the wealth of the nation; picking and choosing winners and losers.  This administration has taken over our health care system, given bailouts to the automotive industry, banking industry and energy industry.  They support the “Occupy Wall Street” movement of increased taxing of the rich to pay for the welfare of the “less rich.”  The Constitution never guaranteed equal things—only equal rights and justice.  In America we should be FREE TO SUCCEED and FREE TO FAIL!

At this very moment our Constitution is literally going up in flames.  What will you do to preserve the Constitution and save America?

Why Socialism Failed …

    Reminds me of Helaman 6:38
And it came to pass on the other hand, that the Nephites did build them up and support them, beginning at the more wicked part of them, until they had overspread all the land of the Nephites, and had seduced the more part of the righteous until they had come down to believe in their works and partake of their spoils, and to join with them in their secret murders and combinations.

  3. Please take the time to read "The 5000 Year Leap" by W. Cleon Skousen. It is a very eye opening and easy to comprehend read. It goes into great detail about the idea's, philisophy and faith that went into the founding of our countries governmant. Wonderful book that compliments the beauty of Jon's paintings!

  4. Jon said, "Socialism uses the illusion of offering fairness and justice for everyone by redistributing the wealth of the nation;"

    Really?

Our government has redistributed less and less of our wealth as the years have gone by, and we are at an all-time low. We Americans keep more of the money we've earned than we have since the early twentieth century. About a hundred years.

First, let's look at the taxes taken from the rich over the last 60 years.

    1945 to 1964 about 90%
    1964 to 1981 about 70%
    1982 to 1986 about 50%
    1986 to 2003 about 40%
    2003 to 2012 about 33%

    http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/e5/MarginalIncomeTax.svg

It looks like the rich have been steadily being allowed to keep more of their money.

    Let's look at welfare.

It looks like the benefits maxed out at $238 (1996 dollars) per month in 1977 and have dropped down to $154 (1996 dollars).

    http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/66/Welfare_Benefits_Payments_Graph.gif

Looks like the poor have been getting less and less of our money.

    How is this more socialized?

Lastly, quote me where this is unconstitutional?

The United States started offering government health care in 1798. And it has expanded ever since. Why didn't the founding fathers find it unconstitutional then?

  5. Sameul Adams said they had done everything possible to make the ideas of socialism and communism unconstitutional. Said he: "The Utopian schemes of leveling[re-distribution of the wealth and a community of goods[central ownership of the means of production and distribution],are as visionary and impractical as those which vest all property in the Crown[These ideas]are arbitrary, despotic, and, in our government, unconstitutional."

  6. Government has to do things by force. Force is the restriction of agency, which is Satan's plan, watch this short clip

Mormons are lovers of force. Mormons are hypocrites, most I know do support "One Nation Under Socialism", ever heard of Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Public Education, ect, ect..... How many planks of the Communist Manifesto do Mormons already support??? I know the answer, I doubt most do.

  7. Literally? The Constitution is literally going up in flames? Come on, son.

  8. I'm with Tracy. There are so many things that are ridiculous about this painting and blog post. But, the claim that the constitution is "literally" going up in flames is probably the most offensive. Ever heard of a dictionary, Jon.

  9. Nice flames, but if those were real flames, they would cast a light on Obama's finger and would generally create a glow on the constitution, but you seem to be ignoring the properties of light that are inherent in flames. Perhaps you are doing this for artistic or symbolic effect. Also, I noticed that his suit sleeve is not casting a shadow on the suit below. There is a shadow on the sleeve itself, but his arm should cast a shadow behind it, according to the direction of light in your painting.

Similarly, Obama's pointed finger is not casting a shadow. Maybe you are using this as symbolism to show that Obama is a vampire? No, vampires don't have reflections in mirrors, but they do have shadows as far as I remember. It must be something else then, especially now that I see that Obama's head is in fact casting a shadow on his suit and on the Constitution, unlike his finger.

I also see that there is a slight rim light on the top of Obama's head, but this rim light does not show up anywhere else along his body, so it either means you have a very bright but very narrow beam of light pointed only at one part of his head from behind, or you've given him a narrow halo to counteract his otherwise devilish portrayal here.

Maybe you should have had the light coming from below to give him that "I'm telling a ghost story" kind of look. That would have been cool.

I see that you left off the flag lapel pin that he normally wears, so maybe you could have given him a communist lapel pin instead. A yellow Lance Armstrong "Livestrong" bracelet would have been cool too. And a CTW ring, you know, for "Choose the Wrong"... or maybe CTL, for "Choose the Left!"

Mostly though, I just want the fire to glow, and for physical objects to create shadows. The rest is meaningless to me.

  10. "Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, and follow me."
    -- Matthew 19:21

I am not religious. I am a patriot. I love my guns. I love my freedoms.
    I love my country.
But it isn't the land that makes me love my country. And it isn't the massive corporations... the Pfizer's or the Monsanto's or the Wal Marts.
    It's the people.
    My neighbors.
The people on my street and the people I run into when I travel across the country.
Without them, this place ain't shit.
    Fuck the rich.
    Fuck the CEO's.
Fuck the rapist corporations who yacht and enjoy tennis lessons by the sweat of our brows.
"We the People" are not the 1% who were born into a class of rich who will stay rich.
"We the People" are the ones who put in the hours. We are the skilled laborers, the workers. The ones without whom all else would fail. The ones who have been exploited and viewed as dumber than the rich because our families couldn't afford us the educations that would allow us lives of leisure on other's hunched backs.
Your grandfather's ridiculous "red scare" is over.
It's time to take the power back.
It's time to care about our neighbors again.
It's time to do what that dude Jesus who all y'all claim to follow would've done.
I'm pretty sure he never said "fuck your neighbor, pay your workers as little as possible, capitalize on tax loopholes, and invest in derivatives." At least I couldn't find that verse. But like I said right up front... I don't buy into that shit, anyway.

  11. Well, out come his true colors, now we know what kind of Christian McNaughton is...like I say..anyone can call themselves a Christian, but there is a difference between being a Christian and a Follower of Christ. Christ would not approve of this or treat someone like this. This is hateful. I agree with STONE'S comment above. This is what Satan wants..the hate between each other. This is what McNaughton has done to us..caused contention. Everyone thinks they are right, but everyone is being mean and hateful to each other.

    1. Troy, It is written that even Satan himself quotes scripture for his own purpose. You prove that statement.
Jesus didn't heal everyone. He healed only a few believers out of many in need. His miracles were a revelation of Almighty God and were done out of love and compassion. They were a record that validated his claim of being the divine Son of God. Your hateful words prove the source of you words. Enough said

    3. Matthew 25 (emphasis mine)

44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or SICK, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?

45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

  14. This first thing that I notice that was wrong was the tie. There are other things wrong with the painting but I will keep that to myself.

Jon you need to do a much better job researching, your stripes on the tie should be down and to the left, your is the down and to the right.

There is a reason why Obama wear stripe ties in a certain direction, but I will leave you to find out the reason on your own. Just know the reasons are based on research and not some kooky reason.

  16. Our constitution is literally going up in flames? Hmm.. damn liberal media hasn't mentioned that at all.

We really need to end socialism in the country. Let's start with getting rid of police, and firefighters and school teachers. Yeah, socialism sucks.

  17. Once again, thank you for a piece that speaks to the hearts of many.

While I understand art is entirely subjective & personal, I find it astounding that one piece can elicit such a range of responses, from admiration & appreciation to venom, hate & sheer stupidity. May the freedom of speech we currently enjoy allow the progressive movement to continue to be their own worst enemy. May God help them if stupidity is ever outlawed.

  18. You seem to have conveniently left Australia out of your 'socialist' list. Australia is about the only 'western' country that hasn't gone down the tubes in this financial crisis. We are doing very well, thank you and we still provide health care, education and emergency services, paid for from taxes. We also provide unemployment benefits. Not from the rich man's taxes, but from everyones taxes. In fact, more of the money comes from ordinary working people because the rich can afford accountants to find all the loopholes for them to wriggle through to avoid as much tax as possible. We all contribute, as do Americans. The difference being that in Australia we all benefit!

  20. Jon McNoughton's web site states that people respond to his art in one of three ways. They love it, hate it or simply don't understand it. Thanks to the little hover feature on The Forgotten Man, I'm pretty sure I understand the message that he intended to put into it. My response is a snicker followed by a shrug. The technique isn't bad, but the subject matter is puerile and one-dimensional. Subjective, predictable and cheesy. Jon McNaughton is the Thomas Kinkade of storytelling.

  21. Besides the obvious and literal interpretations, I gathered that he just gave up with the bottom half of the painting. I'm sure you have some excuse as to why it's so flat--perhaps it's to give it a darker feeling, or maybe to show how flat you believe Obama's waist is--but it just looks like you got lazy. And based on your flimsy reasoning, I'd say that's about right.
