ORIGINAL ART GIVEAWAY!!!

By way of appreciation I will be giving away one of my original drawings to one of my Facebook fans! (CONTEST RULES BELOW)

In this contest I will give away the ORIGINAL DRAWING titled, “I was touched.”  This is not a print…it’s the real deal!

The inspiration for this drawing comes from Luke Chapter 8:46-48

"And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me:  for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.  And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she was healed immediately.  And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort:  thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace."

For me, this is one of the most touching moments in the Bible and I plan some day to paint it.  Drawings like this help me to start the process of creation and seeing it in my mind.  I hope that this will be a worthy gift to whoever wins.

(Contest ended July 24, 2011)
Thank you to all who participated.  We will give away more special items in the future!

  1. To choose one painting is a bit difficult as I love all of them. The one painting that I would love to have hanging on my wall would be "One Nation Under God."

I like so many of your paintings! One of my favorites is "I will always love you" ... Always drawn to images of Jesus with children.

And I commented on your FB wall, too. :)

  3. One Nation under God is my favorite painting. It's my favorite because I think as a painting it says so much of where as a nation we need to be.

  5. My favorite painting in "One Nation Under God." My husband is in the Nation Guard and is former Air Force. Our lives are completely intwined with standing up for the Constitution and as Christians for Jesus Christ. I believe that our country was brought to life for the Lord's purposes in the last days and the Constitution was divinely inspired!!

  7. I got chills just from the drawing, "I Was Touched." Don't know if your painting can top it.
    Love "One Nation Under God."

  8. The Arrival: My favorite because it brings tears of joy & sadness for me. My mother (who lives with me) has alzheimers. If it wasn't for her continuous prayers I probably would not know Jesus today. I know that she will be looking in to the eyes of Jesus one day as he welcomes her home. Denise Holmes

  13. Jon I was so grateful for the opportunity to meet you a couple of weeks ago at your store in Provo, and also discover some of the similarities we have with our sons - in addition to our beliefs in the Gospel and Liberty and Freedom. As I told you that day, my favorite of your works is "One Nation Under God". Thank you for the time you spent talking with me that day, I was honored! Sincerely, Jules Allred

  14. I love the painting "Awaiting the Command". It is a very powerful painting because of its solemness, loneliness, and yet total resolve of His known future....all for us. But it is one of many 'favorites'.

  15. I love all of your paintings. Probably, though, my current favorite is "One Nation Under God" because of the impact it has and that it was inspired.

I think my favorite has to be The Forgotten Man. It is wonderful in its own right, but more because it introduced me to your work. I am truly inspired by you using your amazing talent to try to make a statement about our country and its problems. What a beautiful way to point out not so beautiful faults. Please continue as I think you are inspiring and inspired.

  20. Hi Jon, My all time favorite is the one you put up today, the detail of The Wisemen, Mary's protective hand, the look of awe and respect on the faces of the Wisemen, and the light. The ever pervasive light from the lamp reminiscent of the Ten Virgins and the silent witness that He is the source of all light and truth. It is just phenomenal. If I have to give a "whole" painting I guess it would have to be "Let Us Adore Him". I have to tell you again though that "The Wisemen" makes me cry. Beautiful! (my real name is Christa-Ann Godsdaughter) I would love to have that original drawing because it would symbolize my life for because he touched my life I live and because of what he did I have the opportunity to live abundantly in the eternities. What a legacy to leave the grandchildren. Anyone should be very honored to have that drawing, more importantly we are all honored to have the possibility of that blessing that Christ offers each of us.

  21. Jon,
I am in awe of your God given talent. I am always touched by your work. Of course I seem to agree with most that "The Forgotten Man" is my favorite. In this day and age it's so appropriate. But now your sketch of Jesus gives me hope. I love His look of total peace. I always say God is bigger than politics. But this sketch (your vision) of Christ makes me all the more....well...hopeful. Thank you for sharing your work.

  22. Jon, my favorite painting is "Touched by the Scriptures". This painting is my favorite, among many, so hard to really choose because I would have a gallery of your paintings if I could. It is my favorite because it is a reassurance of Jesus' presence to me in the scriptures and it gives me great comfort and peace. It is the place where he will always be there guiding and teaching me and loving me. It is the place where our relationship blossoms and grows. I can't know Jesus apart from the Word; therefore, in order to build a relationship with my Lord I must meet him in the Scriptures. I love the peace I sense imagining Jesus' hands on my shoulder encouraging me and teaching me the true meaning of his love for me and what I am meant to be in this world and the next. I have a great love for the elderly and when I see this painting it gives me great pleasure. Thank you for your love of God and I thank God for giving you a blessed talent that you have shared with us. Jon you are the servant with the 10 talents that has increased the Lords investment 10 fold. God bless you. Stephanie Gill Broussard

  23. Tough to choose. If I could afford them, I would fill my house with your paintings. I was first drawn to your pictures of Christ. "The Forgotten Man" is also amazing. However, you then introduced "Via Dolorosa" on one of your posts. I could spend hours with that painting and never see the end to the depths in meaning. I especially like your addition of Mother Theresa and the combination of ancient and modern to remind us that Christ died for all of us. His healing is for all of us too. Thank you, Ruth Mower.

  24. I love the painting "Child of Mine." We often think of Jesus, the man, but forget he was a child. He scraped His knees, got splinters in His fingers, got teased by the other kids in the village. Through it all, His mom was always there for Him. This painting speaks of the love between a mother and child, but also reminds us of The Child sent to save the world.

  25. In our hectic daily lives we tend to forget so many of the really important things. Each depiction bringing to life that Son of God is a welcome reminder from the One who loved us so much He chose to die for us. We are blessed! Thanks for using your talents for the Lord and God bless you.

  26. "I will always love you" is one of my favorites. Each time I look at this painting it reminds me of the love our Lord has for children and it reminds me of my son when he was a child. It also makes me want to feel that love that you have so wonderfully portrayed in this painting. To look in the eyes of our Lord would truly be overwhelming.

  28. Parting of the veil and Peace is coming are two of my favorite paintings.

Parting of the Veil because that is the significant moment when God became accessable to us personally thru the crusifiction of our Savior, Jesus Christ. No longer did priests have to enter the Holy of Holies for us.

Peace is coming because I am the daughter of a Viet Nam Vet. My dad finding peace would be a great gift personally, but the day Jesus returns will be a day of rejoicing that I can only imagine. Looking at the faces of those soldiers brings tears to my eyes.

My favorite painting is "Peace is Coming" because you don't have to be a soldier to appreciate it, we all have fought battles in our lives, and with Christ we find victory.

All of your work is Fantastic, but the one that I like the most is Forgotten man, I have felt like that man many many times, I don't believe that it was an accident that I found your artwork I believe that I was led there, it is just one more thing in my life that makes me question my past beliefs ( or lack of) Thank you my friend and God Bless ya.

  32. Oh my goodness, what a beautiful drawing! I have to say my favorite painting is "I Will Always Love You", my son who is serving in the USAF and was in Iraq over Mother's Day this year, sent this painting to me. It has double meaning as it is a young boy looking up to Jesus and that represents my son looking up to him, but it also told me he loves me. That was never questioned but it was a wonderful gift and meaning. I lead my son to your paintings and he was also overwhelmed by all of them. Your paintings are true inspiration, I love them all, they give me goosebumps! God Bless You and God Bless the United States of America! Mary Linda Young (Dunzy) linday53@gmail.com

  33. One of my favorite paintings of yours Jon, is the Forgotten Man. It speaks to the profound realization that each individual is important but often forgotten by those in leadership whose duty it is to serve him. Thanks you for all your work, you are an inspiring and incredibly talented artist!!

  34. Any one of his painting will be fine with me.. I truly think God has givin this man talent.. to see things with eyes no one else has.. The painting scetched above of Jesus, is what he truly sees as a man. The scripture says to me that is.. a woman who God touched to be healed.. amen to this..

  35. My favorite painting is "The Forgotten Man." It shows so eloquently how far we, as a nation and government, have strayed so far away from the American dream. I have studied Thomas Jefferson's writings recently, and have come to realize what an important person he was in our country's beginning history. And your painting shows exactly how far we have drifted. Thank you for your beautiful work!

  36. I couldn't possibly choose just one. I have chosen three that speak to my heart."I Will Always Love You", "Touched By The Scriptures", and "Ye Are Not Forgotten"... although the last one that I mentioned actually makes me cry. Each of these touches the soul with the overwhelming love that the Lord has for each of us. The child...whether you are very young or very old, you are cherished by Him who saw you before you were formed in your mother's womb. The one that's different from everyone else, rejected, set apart...are never far away from His heart, and the elderly, who cling to promises made all their lives by the One who has brought them through life. These paintings are stories w/o words that pierce the soul with love and light. They are beautiful!

Also, just became a follower of the blog.

  39. "I was touched" will be my favorite once you've done the scene. This verse has been my lifeline for the last 4 years as a suffered from an incurable illness. My good friend always tells me, Julie, you are the woman in Luke who touched the hem of His gown. Just reach out with that much faith and touch Him. It is a season of growing and being humbled to get me to that point. I love how you portrayed Jesus' face and I look forward to the final painting.

  40. "He Loves Me, Too" is definitely a favorite of mine. From the colors to the expressions, the feel is warm and inviting. Children are the past, the present, and the future... just as our Lord is. I feel this is a complete package of love, hope, faith and trust in one painting. Well done, John!

  41. My favorite: The Forgotten Man. I see a group of men that sacrificed, some more than others, to move this Country forward and establish America as the greatest Nation on this planet. They have all stood behind and supported our Constitution until Barack Obama. A Usurper, who by his own admission is a Marxist and is slowly pushing this nation into Socialism while ignoring the Constitution. A document that made this country great! The painting tells the story as Obama stands with his back to every President, the White House and the American on the bench with his foot planted firmly on the US Constitution. This painting encompasses my fury as a 28 year military member feeling that my hands are tied and nothing can be done to defeat the destruction of America from a domestic terrorist, Barack Obama.

  42. Trying to choose one of my favorite paintings of yours would be like asking me what blessing would I rather Jesus do for me healing; prosper; closer realationship; etc..... You get the picture. I pray all the time that God would make it possible for me someday to own many of your paintings because they are "ALL" so Beautiful and speak to me!! But if I must pick one it would be One Nation Under God becasue it reminds me of the way our Country use to be. And because I have a pre-law degree and love our Constitution and our Bill of rights and Pray that this country would turn back to the ways of our Forefathers and that the interpetation of the statement of "Separation of Church and State" would be properly interpeted; as those who wrote it and what it was intended to mean.

  43. I know that the Lord is speaking to us through your paintings. He has given you a tremendous gift! Awaiting the Command is the most powerful one for me. As much as we would like to be able to go back to a better time, the Lord's prophecy is being fulfilled, the falling away, the one world system and the coming of the anti-christ. we must stay true to God and witness for Him and not be deceived by the false one! Then we shall enjoy the Lord's Day!

  44. I have a hard time choosing a favorite. I enjoy "The Forgotten Man" as well as "One Nation under God". I love the way you are able to portray the needs of our country.

My favorite though is "Peace is Coming".

I am a veteran. If I could have I would have served longer. I love our Country. I am grateful for the men and women who willing sacrifice all that we might live in a free country. And in your paintings, as you portray our country's needs, you are very careful to show great respect for our service members. For that I thank you.

And to pic Christ as a little child is amazing, I feel blessed every day for my little ones. I can't imagine how Mary felt raising the son of God. I also love your forgotten man, and the turmoil our country is in. Amazing talant you have.

  48. I like all your works, "There will be Peace" & "One Nation under God" are a few of my favorites. Now the 'I was touched', it is not who you are in this Earth's life time, what you do as to things pertaining to the Worlds idea's of fame, fortune, income,or position. It is the simple Faith in Christ, the Son of God, Yod Hey Vav of my ancestors, This is what is important is the person. Christ looks at your soul, heart, faith the real person. He knew the simple act of faith healed a person by a single touch, this is what we should all strive for in this life time, such faith. This is what Christ ask's for, us to have faith in him.
My Neighbor a simple man, a man of experiances and yet in the worlds eyes would be seen as unsuccessful as he died poor, Jim Lawton passed last sat. night after 11pm (Part of his story is in the news his son killed him sad.) Jim was the type of person who could find it in his heart to forgive all, if that could / would allow them to become closer to Christ & Heaven. I put a memorial on my blog to remember him, I miss our evening conversations. In the time of their families sorrow, Judy his wife must deal with the heart ache of Jims death, and the trail of her son for it, She is not well, I think she would appreciate such a piece of art of the Savior, thus I comment on her behalf. to learn more of Jim http://hiddennorthamericanarchaeology.blogspot.com/2011/07/memorial-in-honor-of-jim-lawton-passed.html?showComment=1311464489017#c6719450040495611243
And a link there tell you what some thought of him. I hope you give it some thought, I think it could help Judy in her sorrows to remember the good in life, and blessings we shall see Jim again because of Jesus Christ. Thanks for your consideration.
Stephen Huls Monroe Utah, neighbor and friend to Jim and Judy, they area as family.

  49. Jon, "I was touched" ... yes, I am touched by all your art; however, this one is superb. Not often am I touched by an artist's rendition of Jesus; however, I must say "I am touched" portrays Jesus with a pleasantly peaceful and puzzled expression with an ever so so slight smile. He is surrounded by a mob, and in the twinkling of an eye, HE is electrified by a very slight touch to his garment. HE knows it's someone with great faith; and that that "someone" could only muster up just a slight "touch" to HIS garment in this mob surrounding him. I'm not sure the woman expected immediate healing but she believed if she could just reach far enough through the crowd of people, and touch HIS garment, it would give her hope and comfort. And, in her desperation to reach for HIM she was afraid and trembled, but if she could only touch the hem of his garment; and when she did, she immediately received more than expected. Oh, but did she know she was holding the key? Her FAITH made her whole again! FAITH was the key to unlocking HIS power! And, it is still the same today! Our FAITH IN JESUS electrifies HIS POWER!
Yes, I like "I was touched."
Jon, Thank you bringing faith and hope in Jesus through your artwork!

  50. My favorite is "One Nation Under God". I have shared your site with my sister and told her how much I loved "One Nation Under God". She gave me a print of it for Christmas!!!! How fitting! I have it beautifully matted, framed and prominently displayed in my home. The attention to detail as to why you included each person told the entire story of this nation from birth to present. I have that in a plastic sleeve attached to the back. I appreciate you standing for our country and our Lord. Thank you for your work. Grace Robertson Snodgrass
