  1. Wow! Thanks for the contest! I LOVE the Forgotten Man, and I think we need to get as may people exposed to this painting and its meaning as possible. If I could win one I would do my best to do just that! Thank you.

  5. The Forgotten Man. It says so much, almost as if you had me in mind when you painted it. As I am sure many in my generation feel. The Silient Generation... but we are waking up now and this made the point vividly.

  7. Hello! This is a wonderful opportunity! I would love to have One Nation Under God. This painting speaks to me as a mother and future teacher. It amazes me how touching the little boy is when he is looking at the constitution. It is as though he completely understands what a wonderful thing it is. Thank you for all of your dedication in bringing the real issues in life to art. I am amazed!

  8. It is hard to choose a favorite, but I think I would choose "Parting of the veil". I would love to hang this in my living room to remind my family to make wise choices, for this is the ultimate goal to return to our Heavenly Father as an eternal family and be with their sister Samantha who we know is living with God!

  9. Mr. McNaughton, your talent is remarkable and a true God given ability. I have been a fan ever since my fiance shared The Forgotten Man with me on facebook. That particular work of art touches a place in my heart, and expresses thoughts and feelings I have had personally. The same can be said for your work, One Nation Under God. Every detail of these magnificent expressions of your talent evoke an emotional response in me and I never get tired of visiting your sight to look at them. Thanks again for sharing your gift with the world!

You have so many wonderful creations that it is difficult to pick just one. But of all your artwork, those that move me the Most are
    Calming The Storm
    Parting The Veil

Thank you for heeding the Spirit and painting your testimony for the world to see and hear.

  11. I would love to win a print; however, I would have a very hard time choosing between The Forgotten Man, One Nation Under God and Peace is Coming. They all depict problems of our time and that is what great art is all about. It is sad that one of them is meeting with such controversy, but it is good at the same time. All GREAT artists met with controversy at some point or another in their careers and they are the ones who are hanging in the Louve. I have a unit on Aesthetics in my art class and I love to use yours. I show them the print, then have them use the steps of art criticism before I show them your comments on each element in the painting. Its Good Stuff! Kudos, John - you are nailing it. Keep em coming. - Georgi Dalton

  12. I love many of them, but I think my favorite is "One Nation Under God." It is just so inspiring and keeps with the belief that God himself assisted in the founding of our nation. The "Forgotten Man" is a close second.

  13. One Nation Under God. It makes me react and think.

We home school our children and are bringing them up to know that God has a hand in it all. Since we spend so much time on the Constitution and bible lately I feel this picture would be awesome right above their bible station.

I would have to say hands down my favorite painting is "The Forgotten Man". This painting blew my mind conceptually, and carries significant historical value. The men that ran or run this great nation, and their dedication, or lack there of to the common man are greatly displayed with emotions evoking great compassion to absurd empathy trampling some of our nations greatest documents. Both making me proud to be an American, and disappointing in some of our more recent presidents.

I am a big fan of your art and thank you for sharing with us.

I am so thankful you have the integrity and values to paint your beliefs. This is the way we should teach our children. I believe God has his hand in all things. 21. Hi jon, its hard to decide which is my favorite of your paintings, because each one of them hits me a different way. I love you work. One of my most favorite is Parting the Veil. I love this painting because it makes me think of my daddy that I lost to cancer recently. It brings me joy thinking of our Savior coming to meet us again with all of our loved ones following behind. I can't imagine a more perfect view than the day the adversary is off the earth and we can be in the arms of Christ. Beautiful painting. Dallyn (mortensen) Jones

  23. Hi Jon, of course I like Forgotten Man. It's an accurate description of what our leaders are doing to our country and to us. We hope he's not re-elected and then he can become the Forgotten Man. But there are so many others I like I find it hard to choose. Better leave that to my wife.

  24. Although I love all the paintings in the contest, my very favorite painting (not just of yours but of all-time!) is one called Child of Mine, as I look at it daily in my home. It inspires me every day! All your works are so inspiring, I truly appreciate your talent! In current times, I also love One Nation Under God - it depicts so accurately the religious influences in founding this nation and I think in special preparation for the Restoration. THANK YOU!! 26. I think all of your paintings are wonderful. I really like the more modern day subjects with the hidden messages of how the world has and is changing. I applaud you for bringing these changes to light.

I remember growing up we had the ever so popular picture on our wall "Daily Bread". My wife and I do not have a religious painting hanging on our wall yet. For this reason I would love to have "Calming the Storm" so that we too may display our believes on our walls. Layne Brunk, Wasilla, Alaska

  39. I think your paintings are amazing. I love them because they tell a story that we can all relate to and every time you look at them they tell you more.
I love Via Dolorosa because it shows through history the choices we as mankind made and are still making. Every day we are choosing to stand for Christ or not.
My favorite paintings of all of them are Planting Seeds of Greatness and Ye Are Not Forgotten. I think families today need to remember how important the job of having families and training them is and because we have sheep now, I have learned so much about our lives as Christians and how we are really so much like sheep. "One nation under God" what can I say, it's just a breathtaking painting, I love it as a very close second, anyhow keep up the awesome work.... James Murphy

Honestly, we all need this message and what a great way to share your gift that GOD gave you in your messages with your fine art work. In times today this just may change even 1 persons heart. And even if its one person thats a gift in itself. Your paintings are messages I would be so proud of! What a legacy. One nation under God, Forgotten Man, every one will touch many people.

  42. I like the picture "Let us adore him". Its that tender moment when the savior was born and if you have heard "Mary's Lullaby" you can understand her want and His future. It is the moment when the jews were looking for a King with power and great glory and instead they get a child with a Heavenly Father and mortal Mother. He came to do the will of the Father and so did He accomplish. That is why I love this tender moment. A sign from Heaven in its tenderest form and a life to redeem all mankind to the end. 43. If I were to win this contest, my first choice would definitely be One Nation Under God. This is my favorite because it shows that Jesus Christ is the God of this land. We either worship him or our nation will be destroyed.

  44. This is Leslie Chamberlin from Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri. Choosing a favorite would be a difficult task if I were only allowed one. The reason I love your art is the thoughts that flow from your mind through your fingers to the canvas. If I had to choose one favorite, it would be One Nation Under God. It comforts me in that God is watching over me and protecting me regardless of the good and evil that surround me. I live in the greatest nation on earth, but we all have free will so there is evil around me that filters through to government. God's light has shown through and helped create a strong nation in the presence of evil. I love Jon McNaughton's strength also to not be afraid to point out the great people of our country and those that don't have our nation's best interest at heart. Thank you for that.

  45. Jon,
I'm not too sure how this "blog" thing works but I'm on FB. Even if I don't enter the contest correctly that's ok. I think it's great what you are doing and makes others think of which painting speaks to them the most. (well done you)
It was hard to think of just 'one' favorite however, one of the favorites is "I Will Always Love You." I have to say I'd love to be that little boy at any given time and to physically be that close to our savior and look into his eyes and see that love that I've felt for so long. Just to be 'that' close would be so absolutely amazing and overwhelming.
Thanks for letting our Lord speak through you and share these wonderful drawings with us.
May God bless you and keep you close to Him always.

  59. Awaiting the Command, it means more to me than you could know, and the painting is beautiful and really touches me. I actually experienced this in a dream. The Lord let me feel what he felt on this day in a dream, the abandoned feeling he felt, it tore at my soul. I woke up went to Bible Study and the teacher that day asked us "How do you think Jesus felt when he was abandoned?" I knew the answer because I had just experienced it in my soul in my dream that morning. There is no way that was a coincidence. Melodie Claussen

  60. The other favorite I have of yours is "Child of Mine" Why? Because I have experienced miracles from praying the Rosary for the Mother Mary of Jesus to intercede for my Warrior Soldier son while he has been deployed 5 times. My friend and I did a 54 day Rosary Novena for my sons safe return from war and he came home on the exact day that the 54 day Novena ended and not knowing it at the time of beginning the Novena it ended on Thanksgiving day. What a joy that was for me and such a testimony to the Mother of God that he gave us on his cross when he died. I love you Jesus. Sorry I had to repost because I forgot to put my name, Melodie Claussen

  61. Hello,
My name is Ifti Khan. I'd like to first say that I love all of your paintings, you are truly blessed with a great gift and talent. If I have to choose one out of all your great works, I would have to say that "One Nation Under God" touches me the most deeply and is my favorite. The first time I saw it was in an LDS bookstore in Orem and tears just started streaking down my face as I just stood there transfixed by it's beauty and magnificence. I could not afford it, it was huge, but my wife bought me a small print of it for Christmas. She is awesome that way! As a naturalized citizen, who came to this country 48 years ago from Pakistan (and let me tell you, it's not easy being from Pakistan these days!) I came to love this country for all the things that it stood for and all that it has offered someone like me. I loved it so much that at 20 I enlisted in the US Army and served for nearly 13 years because I felt I owed something back. Now, as a disabled veteran, it breaks my heart to see how much things have changed and I'm afraid not for the better. All the divisiveness and the hatred that one sees and hears these days is truly sad. In looking at your painting, I too wonder what our forefathers would think if they could see what we see everyday. The presence of Christ at the center of the painting is what really hits you though, well it did me anyway, the idea that if we looked to God for guidance and salvation as they did in times past there might still be hope for us to right the ship for a better day and a better future.

  62. Each time I see a new painting of yours, it's my new favorite. My very first favorite is 'One Nation Under God', but my all time favorite is 'Touched by the Spirit'. 63. Your painting "One Nation Under God" is my favorite. I first became aware of it in an email a year or two ago, that was circulating (I received it more than once) calling us as a nation to pray and give honor to our Heavenly Father... This painting portrays not only our American heritage, but our Godly heritage, and we need to be reminded of this!

  67. One Nation Under God is my all time favorite. I found you by a fluke on Monday, and you blew my mind. I have been sharing links for all my fb family since. I believe your print of One Nation should be hanging in the office of every "public servant" in Washington, but that will not happen. They are afraid of the truth. I pray that more people will open their eyes to the truth, and force our government back to the founding values of this country.Trying to choose just 2 from your collection was so hard. You are truly filled with the spirit of Abba Father Yaweh to be able to bring such beauty to a blank canvas. The second favorite would either be the Forgotten Man or Peace is Coming. If I am chosen, I leave it up to those who pick me by gods leading what will reach my friends/family more. Thank you so much for all your hard work, and for this contest. I would never be able to afford a print (I am like the forgotten man, paycheck to paycheck)and this just shows the love you have for your Savior, and for us. Thank you, thank you. Susan Whelan

  71. I have many favorites, but the one that speaks to me most is the one named "After the Storm." My husband passed away suddenly a few years ago, leaving me a young widow with children alone. In the painting the lighthouse stands as a beacon on the shore guiding the storm ravaged ship into the safety of the port. The painting reminds me that no matter what happens to us, God is our beacon of hope, and we need just keep our eyes fixed upon Him. He is there for us after the storm, but like the light house, He was there all along. Sherry Timmerman

  72. It's hard to narrow down all your artwork to a single favorite as I am a fan of them all... but when it comes down to it, "Path of Peace" has to be an all-time favorite of mine. It is not only calming and beautiful, but reminds me that I have an inner peace and a guardian angel watching over me at all times.

  73. "Touched by the Scriptures" really connects me to my grandmother's recent passing, almost a year ago. I have hoped that your painted image is something Gram has and is going through right now. That painting means so much to me, thank you! I've stared at that print many times while listening to music, thinking of Gram. I had hoped that in the future I would be in contact with you to see if you could paint that same picture, except with my grandmother in it, but I'm still saving for that day. I discovered your art work while searching youtube for heroic scores of music and was happy to find that you had a facebook page. Your art amazes me! In the past I used to sketch various things, but you have a wonderful talent for realism of people!!! They, they look wonderful, I can't say it enough times!

If I were to pick a painting from the list given, I would choose - The Forgotten Man

Thank you sir, it's an honor to be on your page...

  74. Jon, the hardest part of your contests is to make choices! It's much easier to congratulate the winner and wait for another giveaway drawing than to narrow your paintings down to one or two favorites! But, the rules say to choose, so I'll say "One Nation Under God." Mainly because it is a story of more than a thousand words-more like over 200 years! It reminds us of where we have come from, what our nation has struggled through, what we have been taught, and points out to us that we have almost wiped much of that out of our history books. If you weren't painting these messages, they have a good chance of being forgotten altogether. Remember how king Josiah tore his robes and wept in the Lord's presence when he heard Shaphan read from the Book of the Law? He cleaned house quickly, even though the prophetess Huldah sent the message that he would die before the Lord brings disaster to the people. He wanted to get the kingdom back to God, where it belonged, and restarted Passover celebrations that had been forgotten. Here were are, as a nation, doing the same thing as the nation of Israel. May God continue to empower you with the gift of painting His message. G. Daniel

I would feel so honored to have any of your prints, but I find myself often visiting your site and viewing your video clip of "The Forgotten Man". It is so true and powerful. Thank you for speaking out with this painting.

  77. Obama stomping the constitution. Politicians are not civic minded any longer they are just increasing their entitlements and placing themselves above the people they represent. This is for the people by the people and not for their little group. When the president is not an example to follow the constitution then the people will not honor and respect the constitution. We are having confusion because we do not have the Godly leadership that made this country great. Insteading of leading we are becoming followers of man not God.
